Probing the assembly history of galaxy clusters with dwarf galaxies
Through deep multiwavelength imaging, spectroscopic follow-up, and comparison to simulations of group-cluster mergers, we aim to utilize the structural and stellar population properties of dwarf galaxies in clusters, as well as the presence of interaction and disruption signatures, to trace the evolutionary history of galaxy clusters. The project is based on deep multicolour imaging acquired for the Perseus, Cancer, and Fornax galaxy clusters, on possible spectroscopic follow-up studies, and on comparisons with predictions from simulations of collaborating scientists.
