Understanding the Small-Scale Structure of the Intergalactic Medium
Thesis abstract: With the advent of ALMA and the improvements of Plateau de Bure Interferometer we are able to look at, in much greater detail than before, the physical and chemical structure of protoplanetary disks, the birthplaces of planets and solar systems. We will be combining theoretical models of these disks along with these high quality observations to refine our understanding of theses disks and the processes which form planets. Special attention will be paid to the chemical structure and identifying suitable 'tracer molecules' for novel ways of determining the physics of the disk.
