Stellar kinematics of galaxies at z=0.6-1.0
The Large Early Galaxy Astrophysics Census (LEGA-C) survey provides high-resolution long-slit continuum spectra for galaxies at a redshift between 0.6 and 1.0. Due to the large sample size and exquisite depth, this provides us with various important probes of galaxies when the universe was only half its current age. As part of the LEGA-C team, I am looking into the kinematics and dynamical structure of the stars in these galaxies and what we can learn from that about their formation.
