What does that cloud look like? Using atmospheric retrievals to explore the diversity of clouds and hazes in exoplanet atmospheres

Clouds and hazes are ubiquitous features of atmospheres, both within and outside of our solar system. However, their composition and structure on exoplanets is poorly understood. In this work, we derive a novel model for cloud formation in the context of an atmospheric retrieval in the era of JWST and ELTs. The spectral range accessible with new instruments, combined with improved models allow us to explore the chemical composition and 2D structure of clouds systems across a broad range of atmospheres.
